If you have a habit of parking illegally whenever there’s no parking especially in Shah Alam, well you might want to break that habit soon.
The Shah Alam City Counsil (MBSA) has announced that it will impose a RM3,500 fine for any vehicle towed for parking illegally at Shah Alam residential areas.
The decision for the hefty fine was made following complaints from residents regarding vehicles parked in an unorderly manner which in turn were obstructing the way.
Heavy vehicles such as buses and lorries were often found parked on road kerbs, dividers, fields, parks and other open spaces.
Mayor Datuk Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad told The Star that “Some park at the main junctions of busy roads and cause traffic congestion.”
Ahmad Zaharin added that most of these vehicles were also parked overnight and caused an eyesore for residents.
Besides the RM3,500 fine, vehicle owners would also have to pay a RM50 storage fee for each day the vehicle is not collected from the council’s depot.
