This phenomenon happens when there is a shifting of the monsoon season from northeast to southwest.
The monsoon shift started on Tuesday and will last until the first week of May, as reported by the New Straits Times.
In fact, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said that the peak of the monsoon shift will happen in April, where strong wind and heavy rain that last between one and two hours could happen, especially in the afternoons and early evenings.
Due to this, we're advised to steer clear of open spaces when it rains and be prepared for flash floods.
The department's director-general Alui Bahari told New Straits Times that thunderstorm cloud formation or cumulonimbus clouds could produce hailstones and small-scale twisters. But it's difficult to predict this, so if you happen to spot those phenomenon happening, don't freak out.
Also, try not to park your vehicles near tall trees and signboards, unless you want to be greeted by a smashed car after a storm.
Those situated at the west coast, interior areas of the Peninsular, west coast of Sabah, and the west and central Sarawak will experience this irregular weather.
