We mean, all they do is just eat, sleep, scratch and repeat. So how can you tell?
But we've got good news to share, especially shortly after we had to say goodbye to the adorable Nuan Nuan, the first female panda cub born in Malaysia last November.
Nuan Nuan's mom, Liang Liang, just gave birth to a panda cub and in the process, broke a world record!
The giant panda couple Xing Xing and Liang Liang set a new record for having a second baby within a short span of four years au naturel.
Weighing 150gm, the new cub was born on Sunday (14 January) at 7.50am, 89 days after its parents did the deed. It also reportedly appeared to be healthy and slightly larger than its sister when she was born.
This proves that Xing Xing and Liang Liang are the perfect panda pair!
Zoology, Veterinary and Giant Panda Conservation Centre director Dr Mat Naim Ramli also told The Star that there is a high chance for them to have more babies in the future because they’ve been adapting well since arriving on our shores.
In case you didn’t know, Xing Xing and Liang Liang are actually here on a 10-year loan. The pair arrived in Malaysia in 2014 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations with China.
According to the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Datuk Seri Dr Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Malaysia intends to keep the newborn cub, but of course, only after further discussions with their home country.
So fingers crossed, let’s hope we’ll see more Malaysian-born panda cubs in the next few years before they leave us!
