For decades long, we all know what sunflowers’ primary function is – to make the world a better, sunnier place, and of course as a source of kuaci.

But as of late, these pretty petals have been getting a lot of attention on social media; Instagram specifically and people are willing to get on a plane just to see them.

So, what’s so special about sunflowers that people are willing to travel for them, you may ask? Well, have you seen a bright, sunny, yellow sunflower field brimming with nothing but happiness? It’ll change your life!

Yellow field of happiness.
A lot of our fellow Malaysian wanderlusters often travel to our neighbouring country, Thailand, where sunflowers thrive happily which will leave you in awe and of course, plenty of Insta-worthy photos.

But, did you know that there are plenty of other places across Asia besides Thailand where you can find breath-taking sunflower fields?

We list down five countries in Asia where you can roam around in a yellow field of joy.

#1 Thailand

Who wouldn't jump for joy at the sight of sunflowers?
Look at how huge this sunflower field is!
So cute, you can even ride a bike within the farm.
If you want to see these yellow babies in the fastest time and on the lowest budget, Thailand is of course, the place to be. There are a few places where you can find sunflower fields particularly in three regions – Saraburi, Lopburi, and Khao Yai which are all about two to three hours away from Bangkok.

The sunflower season in Thailand is generally from November to January. Some places may still have them by February, but your chances are quite slim. You can self-drive to these fields or engage with a local tourist guide/driver.

Fees: 10 baht (RM1.24), but some fields are free entry
Saraburi: Muak Lek Sunflower Field
