Delay in approving PH logo will benefit BN, says Mahathir
Pakatan Harapan chairman expresses frustration over RoS' lack of response and says this will result in parties contesting under own party logos.
This is the result of the Registrar of Society’s (RoS) refusal and lack of action in approving the coalition’s party logo.
The former prime minister took to his blog to vent his frustration regarding the RoS’s inaction.
“The RoS has not given us a reply to our letter and also hasn’t acknowledged receiving our application.
“Twice we met with the RoS but they have yet to offer us an official reply.
“Apparently, they (RoS) said there are problems with DAP and PPBM.
“The RoS even issued a public statement regarding this matter but have yet to issue an official letter to explain what the problems are,” he said.
Mahathir added that no written answers were received from RoS.
“The fact is that it has been seven months since we submitted our application but the status of the application is still unknown.
“Without an official approval of the party logo from RoS, we cannot contest in the GE14 as a coalition party under the same logo
“If we don’t get the approval, we will be forced to fall back on each party’s respective logos and this will confuse voters,” he said.
Mahathir, however, said although the RoS has not responded to its application, it does not mean that the RoS has rejected the application.
“The party needs a long time to introduce its logo as a coalition to the public.
“If the approval is only granted after Parliament is dissolved, there is no time for preparations.
“The delay in approving our application or rejecting the application will only benefit BN (Barisan Nasional) and Umno.
“By not responding to our application quickly, there is mala fide (bad faith) and bad intentions in the RoS’ action.”
He warned the people to be wary of tactics employed by the BN government.
